Abbie and Will’s wedding at King Family Vineyards in Charlottesville was the perfect blend of chic style and heartfelt intentionality. The couple first met at the University of Virginia, but their romance blossomed years later when Abbie texted Will for a drink after they both moved to Washington, DC. Five years of dating later, Will proposed on Lake Minnetonka in Abbie’s hometown and surprised her with friends and family who flew in to celebrate.
When planning their wedding, Abbie and Will chose to prioritize their guests’ experience. Custom thank-you notes at each seat replaced traditional place cards, and family-style dining featuring wood-fired chicken, steak, and grilled vegetables made for a laid-back yet elevated meal. Late-night snacks were his and hers — Chick-fil-A and Papa John’s.
Choosing Memorial Day weekend for their big day, Abbie and Will envisioned their celebration as a kickoff to summer. To capture the vibe, they leaned into summer colors, flavors, and style. They wanted the scenery at King Family Vineyards to speak for itself, so they opted for minimal decor that enhanced the vineyard’s natural beauty. Warm neutrals, large urns, and rose petals lining the aisle added understated elegance and charm, and disco balls lit up the dance floor as everyone danced the night away to a DJ-curated playlist months in the making.
