With its beautiful historic homes and cobblestone walkways, Monument Avenue in Richmond served as the perfect romantic setting for Ashley and Connor’s chic city engagement session.
How They Met
“Like true millennials, Connor and I met on Tinder! I was half-heartedly swiping when I came across Connor’s profile and swiped right (best choice ever!). A few days later, we went on our first date to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden‘s Christmas lights display. We then stayed up driving around Richmond until 3AM talking about life and eating Wawa cookies. That date definitely set the tone for the rest of our relationship — adventure, late-night talks, and food…lots of food.”
The Proposal
“Connor and I go on vacation every May — usually somewhere warm and tropical. Since October, we had been planning a Caribbean cruise departing out of Port Canaveral, Florida. We flew into Orlando the day before our cruise was set to embark, and stayed the night at Walt Disney World. We had dinner reservations at California Grill, a restaurant at the top of Disney’s Contemporary Resort with sweeping views of the surrounding parks. After dinner, Connor suggested that we go watch Magic Kingdom’s fireworks from the viewing deck outside the restaurant. The view was spectacular! We sipped our cocktails as the crowds dispersed after the show. All of a sudden, I turned around and there Connor was, down on one knee! I should say I was ‘shocked’ or ‘so surprised’ but, truthfully, we’d had so many late-night heart-to-hearts about our future plans that I was just so ready to say yes!”
The Ring
“Connor purchased my engagement ring from Diamonds Direct. The ring is a two carat, round brilliant diamond set in a 14k yellow gold six-prong setting. We talked a lot about what I envisioned for my engagement ring (I have to wear it every day, after all!), and I was adamant that I wanted something completely and totally classic and timeless; something that I would wear proudly 50 years from now without it feeling out of style or dated. Connor nailed that vision perfectly!”
