Styled “detail photos” are thoughtfully styled images that highlight the design elements and personal touches of your wedding day. These images capture the thoughtful choices you’ve made — your paper goods, rings, florals, heirloom pieces, and other meaningful details — and set the visual tone for your entire wedding gallery.
I always photograph your details at the beginning of the day, before getting ready photos begin, which allows me to thoughtfully style and curate each set in soft, natural light.

What’s Included in Detail Photos
Detail photographs typically include a combination of styled and close-up images of:
- Your full invitation suite
- All three rings
- The bouquet and boutonnieres
- Shoes
- Jewelry and accessories
- Vow books
- Heirloom pieces or sentimental items (family jewelry, perfume, something borrowed, etc.)
Every wedding is different, and the way I style and photograph your details is always unique to you and your celebration.

Why Florals Make Such a Difference
Loose florals and greenery are one of the biggest factors in elevating detail photos. When your florist is able to provide extra blooms, I use them to add texture, color, and dimension — helping your detail images feel lush and intentional, with an editorial flair.

While florals aren’t required, having more flowers to work with allows for greater creativity and variety in your detail photos. Simply put: the more florals available, the prettier and more layered your detail images can be.
If you love the look of styled detail photos, I recommend asking your florist if they can provide loose blooms and greenery specifically for photography.

Timing Considerations
I typically recommend allowing a full hour for detail photos. This usually breaks down as:
- ~15 minutes for rings, jewelry, and heirloom pieces
- ~30 minutes for invitation suite and paper goods
- ~15 minutes for shoes, bouquet, and boutonnieres
Thoughtfully styling these images is a hands-on process, and building in adequate time ensures your details are photographed with care — not rushed.

How You Can Prepare
To help detail photos run smoothly, I suggest gathering all of your detail items in one place before I arrive. This might include:
- Invitation suite (including extra envelopes or stamps)
- Rings
- Jewelry and accessories
- Vow books
- Any personal or sentimental items you’d like photographed
From there, I’ll take care of the rest.
Styled detail photos are one of my favorite parts of the day — they’re a calm, creative moment before the pace picks up, and they help preserve the beauty of the details you’ve worked so hard to choose.
