Pasadena City Hall was the perfect setting for Joan and Brandon’s engagement photos. I grew up dancing with Joan, so getting to capture this special time for a friend I’ve known for so many years was especially meaningful. With its beautiful Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, arched walkways, courtyards, and lush gardens, Pasadena City Hall is one of my favorite places in the city for engagement photos.
For their Pasadena City Hall engagement photos, Joan and Brandon incorporated traditional Filipino clothing as a beautiful nod to Joan’s heritage. Brandon wore a Barong Tagalog, while Joan wore a two-piece baro’t saya with a navy blue skirt and matching headband. We spent the session wandering around Pasadena City Hall, exploring the architecture and taking advantage of the beautiful natural light for a mix of romantic and playful portraits. I’m grateful that my work as a Pasadena wedding photographer has given me the opportunity to continue taking pictures of the people and places that have been part of my life for so many years.
Pasadena City Hall Engagement Photos
One of my favorite things about photographing engagement sessions at Pasadena City Hall is how much variety there is within the property. The building itself provides beautiful architectural backdrops, while the surrounding courtyards and gardens offer a softer setting for portraits. There are also plenty of covered walkways and shaded areas, which can be especially helpful when we’re looking for beautiful, even light.
For Joan and Brandon’s session, we wandered throughout the property and took advantage of all the prettiest nooks. We mixed more classic portraits with more playful moments and gave them plenty of opportunities to simply enjoy being together. I love when an engagement session has enough variety that the final gallery feels like a collection of different moments rather than the same portrait repeated in a dozen locations.
A Pasadena Engagement Session Close to Home
Pasadena has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up here, and my connection to the city is one of the reasons I love photographing engagement sessions and weddings throughout the area. From Pasadena City Hall to Arlington Garden and the many historic properties throughout the city, there are so many places that make beautiful backdrops for photographs.
One of the things I love most about being a Pasadena wedding photographer is getting to photograph the people and places that have been part of my life for so long. Getting to photograph Joan, someone I’ve known since we were children, made this Pasadena City Hall engagement session so incredibly meaningful.
