Alisa and Stephan’s Hillwood Estate engagement session took place on a beautiful spring day when the gardens were in full bloom. This historic gem, nestled in the heart of Washington DC, was the perfect place to spend an afternoon taking photos. We spent our time together wandering through the French Parterre, smelling roses in the Rose Garden, stopping for portraits among the flowers and sharing quiet moments on some of Hillwood’s charming little benches. After exploring the estate’s grounds, we headed into Georgetown for the second half of their session, where the quaint side streets and waterfront offered a more relaxed backdrop.
I love combining Hillwood Estate and Georgetown for engagement photos because the two locations offer such different scenery. The lush gardens and European feel of Hillwood contrast beautifully with Georgetown’s historic streets and waterfront, giving couples plenty of variety for their photos.
Whether you’re planning a Washington, DC engagement session or simply looking for a beautiful location for photos, Hillwood Estate is one of my favorite places in the city. With its gardens, historic mansion, and European feel, it offers so many beautiful settings to explore.
